Steps for MSBACKUP:

  1. Reboot the system to a C prompt.
  2. At the prompt type MSBACKUP .
  3. At the alert screen press S or ENTER .
  4. Video and mouse configuration screen, the default setting should be fine, press ENTER for OK.
  5. Floppy drive change line test, Choose CANCEL . At this screen the customer will need to choose the drive they will be backing to. In most cases this will be the 3.5" 1.44Mb High Density.
  6. At the backup devices screen make sure the correct drive is chosen, then press ENTER .
  7. Floppy drive compatibility test. To run test you will need 2 disk, a small backup will be make and compared to the original . Choose SKIP .
  8. At the configure screen choose SAVE .
  9. Microsoft Backup screen, choose BACKUP .
  10. SELECT FILES In the select files screen, if you have more than 1 drive, choose drive letter, directory the files are in, then right click on the files or highlight them and press the spacebar, this will place a check next to the files you wish to backup. Choose OK .
  11. Now choose the drive you wish to backup to, click on BACKUP TO , choose A in most cases and then OK .
  12. Click on START BACKUP , you prompted insert first disk and press ENTER . (now would be a good time to label the disk #1 and the catalog, which is on the screen).
  13. If additional disk are needed, you will be prompted.
  14. when the backup in complete a screen will pop up stating this, press ENTER .
  15. If backup is now complete choose QUITE .
  16. At this time you may want to write protect the diskettes , turn the diskettes over to the back, top left corner, move the tab top the top.

How To Restore The Files.

  1. Follow the steps above 1-8.
  2. Choose RESTORE , CATALOG , REBUILD , A floppy in most cases.
  3. Insert the first disk of the backup, choose REBUILD .
  4. Select catalog you wish to rebuild, choose LOAD .
  5. Make sure the drive you are restoring from is correct, check restore to is correct.
  6. SELECT FILES , follow step 10 above.
  7. Click on START RESTORE , then follow steps 13, 14, and 15.
